What Are Affiliate Links?
First things first, what is an affiliate link? Well, put simply, it’s just a special link that lets a seller know we sent you to their website. If you click on one of our affiliate links, and decide to make a purchase, we may get a small commission for sending you there.
We use affiliate links as one of our monetization strategies because they aren’t intrusive. They just look like regular links, and don’t slow down the page or anything like that. Although we do plan on having some level of advertising to make ends meet, using affiliate links help us reduce our dependency on ads. This not only covers the costs for our readers with ad blockers enabled, but it also gives us more freedom because we’re not tied to one source of revenue.
Will It Cost Me Anything?
Absolutely not. Although we get a commission for referring you, the seller won’t charge you anything extra. In fact, some of our affiliate links will even give you a discount! So, it doesn’t cost you anything, and it helps support us at the same time.
Just because a product or service is willing to pay us doesn’t mean we’ll promote them. We only want to make money from products and services we trust and would be willing to spend our own money on. That means the product or service has to be of high quality, and that it has to provide a good value for its price. We also test many of the products and services we recommend ourselves to make sure they hold up to our standards of quality and value.
Obviously, good products/services may not stay that way forever. If you have a bad experience with a product or service we recommend, we’d like to know about it! Let us know in the comments of the post where we recommend it, or feel free to use our contact form.
